To store Ni-Cd or NiMH batteries unused, it is recommended that they be downloaded, since even though there is a self-loading rate, it is decreasing over time to become practically despicable.
Only the necessary time must be charged, an excess load can be more damaging than the memory effect.
It is advisable at least every month to perform a download and a full load.
Although it does not have the memory effect, it is advisable not to start a loading process before it has lost 50% of its capacity. From time to time, it is advisable to download it completely before placing it to recharge (at least every 3 months).
